hello des. congrats on the blog. everything is very interesting. I have been wondering for a while now but was always to shy to ask. I have noticed alot of tailors use bemberg rayon linings.. Why not use silk? Isn’t pure silk more luxurious than bemberg? Are higher quality suits made from silk? many thanks nicola

Nicola,I have just made a suit with silk lining for a client on my last US trip.To be honest, silk lining is nice, but in my opinion it is too heavy for the jacket. It is also very warm to wear, and the price, around £40+ per metre for GOOD quality lining, it is not a cheap option.Silk cloth, or even better, a blend of wool of silk for jackets, is fantastic to wear and yes, very luxurious.
